Columbia, Mo. - The Mizzou Tiger gymnastics team hits the gym today opening practices for the upcoming 2005 season. Jumping into fall workouts, Mizzou looks to take the program to the next level increasing the skill level of Tiger routines as well as fine tuning competitive aptitude.
The Tigers return a seasoned squad of veterans including senior All-American Alisha Robinson, Big 12 champion Lauren Schwartzman and Big 12 Champion runner-up Miranda Boeckman. In addition, the Tigers welcome five newcomers owning experience on the junior national level in Julie Abaray, Nicole Bauman, Ashley Khederian, Katie Kluga and Lisa Puccio.
Bolstered by a strong roster, Missouri looks to again reach milestones in 2005. Following a star studded 2004 season seeing the Tigers' first victory over Big 12 rivals Nebraska and Oklahoma, as well as making their third consecutive trip to NCAA Regional competition, Mizzou is poised to further its progress this season.
The Tigers' 2005 season schedule is still awaiting the return of several contract agreements in order to be released. NCAA gymnastics competition officially begins in January and runs through the NCAA Championship held April 21-23.
