Columbia, Mo. - After firing a Mizzou and course record 66 in the second round of the Lady Northern Classic on Saturday, University of Missouri senior women's golfer Maria Ohlsson (75-66-73=214 - 1st) put together yet another record-setting performance on Sunday. She shot a one-over par 73 in the final round on her way to a five-shot tournament victory and a school record 54-hole total of 214. That effort broke her own mark of 215 she set last fall at the Las Vegas Collegiate Shootout. The tournament was played in Ann Arbor, MI, at the par-72, 5,966 yard U-M Golf Course.

Ohlsson wasn't the only Tiger firing on all cylinders this weekend. Junior teammate Denise Knaebel fired a two-over par 74 in the final round to finish in a tie for second place and senior Mindy Bullard equaled a career-best with a three-round total of 223 to finish in a tie for eighth as the Tigers opened the fall with a third place finish with a team total of 886. That team total also made history as the lowest team 54-hole total in school history, eclipsing the old mark of 888 set in the fall of 1997.

"We were really consistent and showed that we are capable of putting up some low numbers," head coach Stephanie Cooper said. "Our leaders really set the standard all weekend and this kind of effort is exciting to see to begin our fall season."

Sophomore Stephanie Wavro struggled in the final round to finish with a total of 235 and a 42nd place finish. Freshman Madde Augustsson and sophomore Lyndsey Adams both fired their lowest rounds of the tournament, shooting rounds of 78 and 77 respectively.

Mizzou continues its fall campaign on Sept. 24-26 at the Jeannine McHaney Invitational in Lubbock, Texas. For more information on Tiger women's golf, log on to www.mutigers.com.
