Football Practice Report, Day Five

Aug. 13, 2004

Columbia, Mo. - The Missouri Tigers continued their preparations for the 2004 season opener on Sept. 4th against Arkansas State with a morning workout Friday at Memorial Stadium. The workout was held in full pads for the first time since camp started on Monday. Weather continued to be one of the stories of camp thus far, with temperatures just below 70 degrees. Friday's practice had many nice highlights, here were just a sampling... Freshman WR Jerrill Humphrey caught a TD pass from fellow freshman QB Chase Patton, as Humphrey went up and took the ball away from the defender on the play... Humphrey later hooked up with freshman QB Darrell Jackson for another TD on a fade pass in the endzone... Sophomore QB Brandon Coleman hit another true freshman wideout for a TD, as he connected with Will Franklin on a short slant that Franklin took and outraced everyone to the endzone for a 40-yard score... Junior wideout Sean Coffey made a pair of nice TD catches on the day, as he hooked up with QB Brad Smith twice. The first was a juggling catch in the endzone from about 35 yards out, and the second was a jump ball situation in the endzone on a fade route... Defensively, linebacker Emmett Morris, Jr. forced a fumble during scrimmaging that safety Quincy Wade recovered. Defensive lineman Fabian Bean also recorded a sack on the day... Practice continues Saturday with a pair of practices -- marking the first two-a-day workout this camp. Be sure to stay tuned to www.mutigers.com for updates.
