Columbia, Mo. - The University of Missouri football game at Troy State scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 11th has been moved to Thursday, Sept. 9th to accommodate a national cable telecast, as announced today by both schools. The game will kick off at 6 p.m. (Central), and will be shown on ESPN-2.
Mizzou now has two games set for television for the 2004 season, with the potential for several others to be chosen at a later date. The other game currently guaranteed for telecast is the Nov. 27th regular-season finale at Iowa State, which will be shown either on ABC or Fox Sports Net. In 2003, MU had a record nine games televised.
Gary Pinkel's Tigers, coming off an 8-5 season, enter the 2004 campaign picked to win the Big 12 Conference North Division title by many pre-season publications. The Tigers return four starters on offense, including pre-season All-American and Heisman Trophy candidate Brad Smith at quarterback. Mizzou also returns nine starters on a defense which was one of the league's most improved in 2003.
Season tickets for MU's home schedule remain available by calling the MU Ticket Office at 1-800-CAT-PAWS, or 884-PAWS in Columbia. The home schedule of foes for 2004 includes Arkansas State (Sept. 4), Ball State (Sept. 18), Colorado (Oct. 2), Oklahoma State (Oct. 23 - Homecoming), Kansas State (Nov. 6) and Kansas (Nov. 20).
