Ohlsson Earns Big 12 Golfer of the Month Honors for the Month of March

Columbia, Mo. - Five days after helping the Missouri women's golf squad to its second tournament championship of the 2003-04 season, Tiger junior Maria Ohlsson was named the Big 12 Golfer of the Month for March, the Big 12 Conference office announced on Thursday.

The talented junior from Vetlanda, Sweden, recorded two top-five finishes in March while posting a 74.2 stroke average. She placed second at the Texas A&M "Mo" Morial and was fifth at the Tapatio Springs Shootout. Two of her six rounds were at par. Ohlsson helped lead the Tigers to a win at the "Mo" Morial and a second place finish at Tapatio Springs. She is one of two Tigers to rank in the top three in stroke average (3rd, 74.9), the other being sophomore Denise Knaebel, who owns the top spot in the league at 74.2.

Ohlsson has registered seven top-20 performances in nine tournaments played in 2003-04. She shot a school-record 215 at the Las Vegas College Shootout en route to a second place finish in the Tigers' final outing of the fall and has not finished out of the top 15 in the last three tournaments.
