Missouri sophomores Lindsey Hunter and Lindsey Noll and junior Sara Parks have been selected as part of the USA Select Team that will participate in the European Spring Cup from May 6-16. The USA team will join 15 other European National Teams for competition in Brno, Czech Republic.
The USA Select Team comprises top collegiate players, including many that are considered part of the USA Volleyball pipeline of potential National Team athletes. Coaching the team are Reed Sunahara from the University of Cincinnati, Matt Darling from Auburn and former USA National Team Coach and Player Greg Giovanazzi.
"This will be a great experience for these three girls," MU Head Coach Susan Kreklow said. "The chance to play with other great players from around the country and to travel with the team to different parts of the world is an exciting opportunity."
Hunter was named to the All-Big 12 First Team last season and was All-Central Region Honorable Mention. She led the Big 12 Conference with a 12.29 assists per game average. It was the second consecutive season she has led the conference in that category.
Noll was third on the team with a .269 hitting percentage last season and was second with a 0.87 blocks per game average. She had at least 20 kills once in 2003 and reached double digits in kills in 11 of the last 13 matches of the year.
Parks was MU's libero and averaged 3.15 digs per game in 2003. She had 10 or more digs 20 times, 15 or more nine times and 20 or more once during the 2003 season. She reached double digits in digs 14 of the final 16 matches of the year and had a 3.27 digs per game average in Big 12 Conference matches.
