Lindsey Hunter Selected to National Training Team

April 28, 2004

Missouri sophomore setter Lindsey Hunter has been selected to the 2004 USA Women's National Volleyball Training Team, as announced by USA Volleyball. The team will train in Atlanta, Ga. from May 25-28, then compete in the Women's Open Division of the USA Volleyball Adult Open Championships at the Georgia World Congress Center from May 29-June 1.

The team is primarily selected by invitation based on past performances in USA Volleyball programs such as the A2 team, Pan American Games team and Junior National Team. The setters were selected through an invitational weekend tryout at the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. April 9-10.

"Lindsey has been a valuable part of our team during the past two seasons and is very deserving of this selection," Missouri Head Coach Susan Kreklow said. "We are extremely excited for her and know that she will do well. This is a great opportunity and it will be an experience she can carry with her for years to come."

Hunter was named to the All-Big 12 First Team last season and was All-Central Region Honorable Mention. She led the Big 12 Conference with a 12.29 assists per game average. It was the second consecutive season she has led the conference in that category.

She was also named to the Academic All Big 12 team and was the MVP of the 2003 Quality Inn Tiger Invitational. Hunter is in third place on the all-time career assists list at MU with 3,103 assists in just two seasons at Mizzou.

As a freshman in 2002, Hunter set a school record with 1,690 assists in a season and was an Central Region and Big 12 Conference Honorable Mention selection.
