Columbia, Mo. -- The University of Missouri basketball squad (15-12, 9-7 Big 12) will begin play in the eighth Phillips 66 Big 12 men's basketball tournament at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas on Thursday night at 8:30 p.m. CST. The Tigers will face the No. 11-seeded Texas A&M Aggies in a first round matchup that will air nationally on ESPN2. The winner of that contest will go on to face the No. 3 seeded Kansas Jayhawks on Friday night at 8:20 p.m. CST.
The Tigers are the No. 6-seed in the tourney for the fifth time in the eight year history of the tournament. The Tigers were the fifth seed last season and made a run to the Big 12 Tournament Conference Championships before falling to Oklahoma, 49-47 in the championship game.
Mizzou opened its home portion of the Big 12 schedule against the Aggies on Jan. 10 in Columbia, taking down TAMU, 82-77. The Tigers have won seven of their last eight meetings with the Aggies and last faced them in the Big 12 tournament in 2001, coming away with a 77-62 victory.
