Final Stats

San Marcos, Tx-Playing in their final non-conference game before starting Big 12 play, the Tigers lost to the Bobcats of Texas State, 9-3. With the loss the Tigers fall to 13-19 on the season.

The Tigers got on the board early with runs from Samantha Fleeman and Alli Kennewell. Fleeman hit her third home run of the season to drive Kennewell home and give the Tigers the early 2-0 lead in the top of the second. The Bobcats got on the board in the bottom of the third with a home run from Katie Ann Trahon and were able to tie the game at two when Rachael Bonetti drove Hannah Snow home on a single.

The Tigers regained the lead on a home run by Morgan LeCluyse, her first of the season, bringing the score to 3-2, Tigers. Tiger pitcher Erin Kalka walked the Bobcats leadoff batter Zaleski in the bottom of the third inning and the Bobcats once again tied the score on a double from Wilson. Behind the pitching of Erin Kalka the Tigers were able to strike out the next two batters preventing a Bobcat go ahead run in the bottom of the third inning.

With the score tied at 3-3 going into the bottom of the fifth inning, the Bobcats took the lead on an RBI single by Ashley Wilson, which drove home Kristen Zaleski, giving the Bobcats the 4-3 lead. Going into the top of the sixth inning the Tigers were one run down and needing a run, Alli Kennewell was able to get on base with a single to the left field gap. The play brought up Samantha Fleeman who was unable to get on base as she popped up to center field for the third out of the inning.

The Tigers made a pitching change in the bottom of the sixth inning bringing in freshman Erica Petersen. Petersen walked the lead off batter Hannah Snow and then was able to strikeout Brittany Hodge before Leslie Sharp hit a two-run home run to give the Bobcats the 6-3 lead in the bottom of the sixth inning. The Bobcats were able to get on base with a single up the middle from Amy Krueger. The Tigers made a pitching change in the bottom of the sixth bringing in designated player Samantha Fleeman to pitch. The Bobcats were able to add to their lead earning three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning bringing the score to 9-3 in the bottom of the sixth inning. In the seventh inning the Tigers were unable to put any runs on the board, giving the Bobcats the 9-3 win.

The Tigers open Big 12 conference play with a weekend series against the University of Texas. The first pitch is scheduled for 1PM at McCombs field on Saturday and first pitch for the Sunday game also scheduled for 1PM.
