PHOENIX, Ariz.-- - One day after Missouri banged out 16 hits and scored 13 runs in an blowout victory over Portland 13-0, the Tigers found themselves in a much tighter ballgame on Sunday in the final day of the Oakland A's Spring Training Tournament in Phoenix, Ariz. Mizzou held on to defeat the Pilots 2-1 to move to 3-0 on the season and is 3-0 for the first time since 1999.

For the second straight day, it was a slow start for the Tiger offense with the first MU runs coming in the bottom of the sixth inning. Junior RHP Garrett Broshuis started and kept Mizzou in the game. Broshuis pitched the first six innings, allowing just four hits and one run, which was a home run by Portland's Travis Vetters in the fourth inning. He walked one, struck out eight and took the win.

Mizzou got on the board in the bottom of the sixth inning with the big hit in the inning came from senior 1B Cody Ehlers. His double to right field drove in two runners and gave the Tigers the lead. MU had a chance to add more runs in the sixth, but left the bases loaded.

Junior RHP Dustin Braud relieved Broshuis in the seventh and gave up no hits and no runs and struck out four in two innings of work. Freshman RHP came on in the ninth inning and struck out the side in a 1-2-3 ninth inning to get the save.

Next weekend, Missouri travels to Myrtle Beach, S.C. to take part in the Bonjangles Beach Blast Tournament. The Tigers will open up play in the tournament against Coastal Carolina at 2 p.m. CST on Thursday.
