Columbia, Mo. - The #22 Missouri swimming and diving teams will take on Big 12 rival Iowa State this weekend. This weekend's meet against Iowa State will be the last dual meet this season for the women's team.
The Missouri women (7-3, 2-1) have suffered all of their losses to top-15 teams this year: #1 Auburn, #6 Arizona and #14 Texas A&M. Iowa State is 4-3 on the year and 0-1 in conference competition.
"This meet should be a very close match-up with Iowa State and us. Iowa State has continued to swim faster every year we compete against them and we are expecting a very fast meet on Saturday. The top swimmers for both teams are very close, times wise, and should make for some exciting races, but I think that depth is what will really decide this meet," said Missouri Head Coach Brian Hoffer.
Several key match-ups this weekend include the 200 and 500-yard freestyle events where Iowa State's Sam Dyshaw, a 2003 NCAA qualifier, will be going up against MU's Lizza Igoe and Rebecca Wolfe. In the 100 and 200-yard butterfly events, Liz Schoborg and Rebecca Wolfe, 2003 Big 12 Champion in the 200 fly, will be competing against Iowa State's team MVP, Petra Plaminkova. Plaminkova will also challenge Mizzou's Mariona Costa and Ellen Borgo in the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke events.
