Columbia, Mo. - The top-50 times in collegiate swimming were released today by Taper & Shave, a college swimming publication. Nine of Missouri's swimmer's have received individual recognition while several of the relay squads are also ranked.
On the men's side, senior Tyler Belanger is currently ranked in the top-40 in the 50-yard freestyle with his time of 20.91 Sophomore Chris Lukas is ranked in the top-40 in both the 100 and 200-yard backstroke. Lukas's time of 50.98 in the 100 backstroke is just two seconds off the NCAA provisional qualifying mark while his time of 1:50.47 in the 200 backstroke is three seconds shy of the provisional mark.
Junior Matt North is currently ranked in the top-40 in four events. In the 100-yard breaststroke, North is ranked fifth in the nation with his time of 55.43 which provisionally qualifies him for the NCAA Championships. North is also ranked 12th in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:02.50, two seconds off provisionally qualifying. North is also ranked in the top-40 in the 200 and 400 Individual Medley.
All of the men's relay teams are ranked in the top-50.
The #23 Missouri women's team also had several individuals and relays place in the national top-50 times.
Senior Andrea Nigh is currently in the top-25 in the 50-yard freestyle with her time of 23.74. Nigh's time is just two tenths of a second off the NCAA provisional qualifying standard.
Senior Sarah Lo is in the top-35 in the 100 backstroke with her time of 57.02. Lo's time is one second off the provisional mark.
Breaststroke swimmers Ellen Borgo and Mariona Costa are both in the top-45 in their respective events. Borgo is top-45 in the 100-yard breaststroke and Costa in the 200 breaststroke.
Butterfly specialists Liz Schoborg and Rebecca Wolfe also made their way into the top-50. Schoborg is top-50 in the 100 butterfly and Wolfe in the 200 butterfly.
Sarah Lo, Andrea Nigh and Rebecca Wolfe were all 2003 NCAA qualifiers.
All of the women's relay teams are ranked in the top-25.
