Tigers Win in Softball Doubleheader

Oct. 18, 2003

Playing in a fall softball scrimmage against Johnson County Community College, the Missouri softball team won back-to-back games, 2-1 and 3-2.

Game one went extended into eight innings with the scored tied at one, when Mizzou's short stop Heather Kunkel hit a line drive allowing first base player Joanne Loethen to head home for the game winning run.

In game two, the Tigers pulled out a win in the final inning of the game as third base player Kendra Power scored off of a drive by short stop Allison Kennewell.

"Today's scrimmage was a good way to gauge where the team stands heading into our final week of fall practice," head coach Ty Singleton said. "There are several areas that we still need to work on and improve, but I strongly believe that everything will come together in time for the regular-season."
