The Missouri softball team will play host to Johnson County Community College in a fall doubleheader at University Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 18. The Tigers will open the first of two games at 2 p.m. with the second following at 4 p.m.

Missouri enters the doubleheader after coming off a 31-20, 2003 season that saw the Tigers finish third in the Big 12 Conference.

"The coaching staff is expecting big things from the team this season," head coach Ty Singleton said. "The doubleheader against Johnson County should give us a good idea of how far we've come since the spring, and how far we need to go before opening our season in February."

Johnson County Community College, in Overland Park, Kan., ended the 2003 season with a 47-13 record under the direction of head coach Frank Barnes.

The matchup between Missouri and Johnson County will be the first meeting between the two schools.
