DALLAS - Senior CF Jayce Tingler (Smithville, Mo.) has been selected to the first team of the seventh annual coaches All-Big 12 Conference baseball team as chosen by the conference's head coaches.

Tingler, who will be making his first appearance as a player in the NCAA Tournament this weekend when he and his Tigers (35-20) travel to Starkville, Miss., for the Mississippi State Regional, is the first first-team Tiger since Ryan Stegall in 2000. He is closing his career in record-setting style, and is the Tigers' leading hitter this season at .390. This past weekend at the Phillips 66 Big 12 Conference Tournament, Tingler set a new Missouri record for hits in a career, passing former All-American Ryan Fry. He now has 269 hits. In addition, he is nearing the school career records for runs scored and walks. In addition, his 64 runs lead the squad and his 46 RBI are second on the team.

Three Mizzou players - junior SS Ian Kinsler (Tucson, Ariz.), junior C Brad Flanders (Smithville, Mo.) and sophomore RHP Justin James (Yukon, Okla.) - made the All-Big 12 Second Team. Flanders (.341, 6 HR, 42 RBI) and Kinsler (.337, 5 HR, 43 RBI) are second and third, respectively, on the team in hitting, and James (7-6, 4.11 ERA, 85 SO) has been Mizzou's No. 1 starter all season long. He is also the first starting pitcher to make the first or second team since Justin Stine in 1999.

A quartet of Tigers earned Honorable Mention plaudits. They include junior RHP Andy Shipman (Bellevue, Neb.), junior 1B Cody Ehlers (Stillwater, Okla.), junior LF Ryan Rallo (Chesterfield, Mo.) and sophomore righty closer Travis Wendte (Moore, Okla.). The seven Tigers honored mark the most recipients since Mizzou joined the Big 12; the 1999 team also had seven named to the honors squads.

Head coach Mike Anderson of Nebraska joins 2003 Player of the Year 1B Matt Hopper of NU and teammate LHP Big 12 Pitcher of the Year Aaron Marsden of the Huskers in a prominent 1-2-3 configuration for top awards. NU went 20-7 in Big 12 contests to win its second league championship in three years and to advance to the NCAA Regionals for the fifth consecutive year.

Twenty-nine Big 12 honorees from 10 teams were nominated for the Dick Howser Trophy, Rotary Smith Award and Golden Spikes Award, and 12 members of the initial unit advanced to NCAA Regionals with their respective crews.
