Competing in the NCAA national gymnastic finals for the second straight season as an individual all-around competitor, Mizzou sophomore Alisha Robinson once again proved herself a rising star for the Tiger program. After leading Missouri in the all-around throughout the year, culminating in a second-place All-Big 12 first team nod following the 2003 Big 12 Championships, Robinson advanced to the national meet placing fourth at the South Central Regional.
Opening up her meet along side familiar host team Georgia, Robinson was paired with the Bulldogs during the NCAA Championship last year as well, Mizzou's sophomore felt the pressure of her missing teammates as she opened the competition scoring a 9.675 for a 31st-place ranking on vault against Session II contenders. Moving up in her next two events, Robinson scored consecutive 9.775 marks on the beam and floor to finish tied for 27th on both apparatus. Rounding out the meet, she scored a 9.750 vault to finish 29th sum up the evening with a 38.975 all-around cumulative to rank 13th in the second session.
"Alisha put together a very solid meet," Head Coach Rob Drass said. "She worked very hard this season and it was great to make it back to the national championship. Our next step is to continue to develop Alisha's drive and experience, along with her team mates, as we look forward to make this trip as a team next season," he added.
