No. 23 Missouri Faces No. 22 Brigham Young

No. 23 ranked Mizzou gymnastics sums up its three-meet rally this weekend against No. 22 ranked Brigham Young on Fri., March 21 at 7:00 p.m., in Provo, Utah.

The Mizzou gymnastics program wraps up the 2003 season hosting both the Big 12 Championship and NCAA South Central Regional meets. The Tigers welcome some of the top-ranked teams in the nation promising some exciting competition. Big 12 action kicks off on Sat., March 29 at 7:00 p.m., when the Tigers host nationally recognized Oklahoma, Nebraska and Iowa State. Participants in the NCAA Regional will be announced following regular season competition.

Marking up Mizzou
* Continuing to pounce the competition, the Tigers persist in scoring top marks with a 195.875 victory on the road against Arkansas to tie Missouri's third-highest program total ... Mizzou defeated the Razorbacks to bring their series record to 1-1 ... the Tigers also scored the second-highest beam score in school history with a 49.150.
* Missouri sealed a Corvette Cup victory scoring a 195.925 ... the mark is Missouri's second-highest all-time team score and sets a new standard in the Corvette Cup record books ... on their way to the championship podium, Missouri also scored the team's highest all-time vault total with a 49.200 tally and set the program's second -highest floor score posting a 49.325.
* The Tigers made history scoring the highest team total in Mizzou's 23-years when the team earned a 196.475 to best Illinois State ... adding to the victory, Missouri posted a 49.175 balance beam mark setting a new team beam record as well.
* Adding to their season feats, the Tigers have recorded six of the program's top-15 team scores during the 2003 season, including the four-highest Mizzou marks ... Missouri also boasts at least three of the top-10 event totals on each competitive apparatus, including program records on the vault and beam.
* Mizzou won the 23rd Annual Cat Classic title setting three meet records including the all-time vault and balance beam scores ... Mizzou posted a 49.150 collective on both events to set the records and topped the evening scoring a 195.875 to post the highest team score in the meet's prestigious history ... the Tigers also scored the third-highest team total in Mizzou program history.
* Missouri has defeated three ranked opponents during the 2003 season topping then No. 18 Iowa State, No. 10 Arizona and No. 20 Brigham Young.
* The Tigers recorded their first Big 12 victory in six years defeating the Iowa State Cyclones 192.575-192.000. It is the first time Missouri had earned a victory over ISU since 1995.

* BYU is currently ranked 22nd in the NCAA with a 195.720 regional qualifying score ... the Cougars average 195.128 with their highest meet this season topping in at 196.800.
* The Cougars are 5-8 on the year ... defeated No. 10 ranked Oregon State last weekend 196.775-195.325 ... BYU swept the all-around Jamie Mabray finished first (39.525), Lindsay Butterfield was second (39.400) and Kirsten Pauga was third (39.100).
