Three Tiger Track Athletes Score at NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships

The University of Missouri Track and Field team did exceptionally well at the NCAA Indoor Championships in Fayeteville, Arkansas today. Tiger seniors Christian Cantwell and Russ Bell both scored for the Tigers in the men's shot put and junior pole vaulter Jennifer Bennett scored for the Tigers in her event.

On the men's side both senior co-captains Bell and Cantwell did well in the men's shot put. Cantwell finished third in the shot put with a throw of 67 feet, 8.75 inches and Bell finished seventh with a throw of 63 feet, 2 inches. Conference rival Carl Myerscough of Nebraska won the event with a throw of 70 feet, 6.25 inches, which is the farthest collegiate throw of the year.

On the women's side Tiger junior Jennifer Bennett finished sixth in the women's pole vault with a season-best leap of 13 feet, 7.25 inches, Lacy Johnson of Florida State won the event with a vault of 14 feet, 7.25 inches. Yesterday junior Janae Stickland finished eighth in the women's shot put. That brings a total of four All-Americans for the indoor track and field team.

The NCAA Indoor Championships concludes the indoor track and field season and the Tigers begin their outdoor season March 26-29 in Gainesville, Florida for the Florida Relays.
