Lafayette, La. - The University of Missouri men's golf team is in sixth place following the first day of the Louisiana Classic, which was played on Monday. The Tigers are just two strokes out of fifth place after firing rounds of 300 and 288.
Junior transfer David Jenkins paced the Tigers in the opening day firing rounds of 73 and 70, putting him in 14th place on the day. Senior Chris Happ is only four strokes back of Jenkins in 28th place. He was extremely consistent on the day shooting rounds of 73 and 74 for a Day 1 total of 147. Junior Michael Radek and senior Cory Ewert are tied for 35th place with totals of 149. Both players bettered their first-round score as Radek dropped from a 76 to a 73 and Ewert plummeted from a 78 to a -1, 71.
Junior Brandon Knaub had a tough day to open the tournament, with an opening round of 78 and a second round of 74 putting him in 60th place heading into the final day of competiton.
