Head Coach Cindy Stein
On the game:
"I'm really proud of our players, it was a hard fought battle. I thought we played a very good 35 minutes. Unfortunely, the game is 40 minutes long. We're going to learn from this, and that's the key to our team this year. I see some great things with this team; I don't think anyone should doubt us. We're trying to get our shots and look for the open shots, but obviously they were on us as soon as we got the ball. We sometimes got the shots we wanted, but we didn't knock them down, we didn't get the defensive stops we needed to, I think that's the key, it's a credit to Illinois."
On Illinois' defense:
"We needed someone to come to the ball and when someone doubles off you, you've got to be alert of that. And instead of coming to the ball, we were going right into the meat of their defense. And nobody really stepped up at the end of the game. We have a lot of people who are sure of themselves the entire game, and when we really needed them, they didn't take the shot.
On LaToya Bond:
"LaToya's been incredible, and she's getting better every week. The thing to ask her now is to be consistant. We see great sparks from her, and we're just looking for her to be consistent. I think everyone can see the talent in her, and how good she is going to be."
On possibly continuing the Missouri-Illinois series:
"I like this game; I think this is a good game for us. If we had a home-and-home series I think that would be exciting. If I had the chance to play Illinois at another venue, that's great."
Freshman Guard LaToya Bond
On her performance this afternoon:
"I just go out there and do whatever I need to do to help the team win. This game is like every other game, I just have to go out there and prepare."
Senior Guard Kerensa Barr
On the game:
"I thought we had 35 quality minutes and at about the five minute mark of the second half, our offense kind of fell apart. There were about two minutes there where we couldn't get a shot off; I take a lot of that on me. I think we just lost, our team will get better."
