Two Tigers Receive All-Region Honors

Missouri senior Christi Myers has been named to the All-Central Region Team and freshman Lindsey Hunter has earned All-Region Honorable Mention. Myers and Hunter are the first All-Region selections in Missouri volleyball history.

Myers averaged 3.97 kills per game during the 2002 season and had a hitting percentage of .380. She also averaged 1.36 digs per game, 1.03 blocks per game and 0.25 aces per game. She had five double-doubles on the year and had four matches in which she recorded at least 20 kills, including a career-high 26 against Kansas.

Myers is the career leader in hitting percentage at Mizzou with a .321 mark. She also holds the record for most block assists (362) and most total blocks (454) in a career. Myers is also second in career kills with 1,476 just two shy of the all-time record at Mizzou. She is third in kills per game at MU (3.48), third in solo blocks (92) and third in blocks per game (1.07).

Hunter led the Big 12 Conference in assists per game and is second in the nation with a 14.08 average. She set the Missouri record for assists in a season as she recorded 1,690 assists on the year. Hunter also averaged 2.18 digs per game and 0.23 aces per game.

Hunter had a career-high 69 assists in Missouri's NCAA Tournament second round match against Northern Iowa after recording 64 in the Tigers' first round victory. She had nine double-doubles in the 2002 season and compiled 60 or more assists in six matches this year.

The Tigers concluded the 2002 season with a 26-8 record and finished third in the Big 12 Conference. They advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament after picking up their first ever win in the NCAA Tournament with an opening-round victory over Northwestern.
