COLUMBIA, Mo. -
University of Missouri swimmer Matt Ferrarelli has been announced as CollegeSwimming.com's National Swimmer-of-the-Week for the week of Nov. 26 thru Dec. 1 as released today by CollegeSwimming.com. The senior from Retford Nottingham, England was selected based on his performance at the Minnesota Invitational on November 22-24 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
At the Minnesota Invite Ferrarelli won the 200 (1:49.74) and 400 (3:52.94) individual medleys. Both times were NCAA Championship provisional qualifying times and at the time his time in the 200 individual medley was the fastest in the country and his 400 individual medley time was the third fastest.
All together Ferrarelli competed in six different events at the Minnesota Invite in helping the Missouri Tigers swimming and diving team to a fourth place finish in the 14 team invite. He picked up a second place finish in the 200 backstroke (1:49.39), a seventh place as the lead leg of the 400 medley relay team (3:25.40), a tenth place as the anchor leg in the 400 freestyle relay team (3:11.31) and a eleventh in the 100 backstroke (51.23).
This is the second time that Ferrarelli has been selected as Swimmer-of-the-Week by CollegeSwimming.com. Ironically, last season Ferrarelli was selected for his performance during the week of Nov. 27 thru Dec. 2, 2001.
