Streaking: Women's Team Extends Winning Streak to 15 Dual Meets

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - The women's swimming and diving team traveled to Champaign, Illinois with intentions on sweeping all their dual meets at the Fall Illini Classic at IMPE Pool. Mission accomplished. The women's team improved to 5-0 in dual meet competition this season defeating host Illinois 181-117, Michigan State 196-98 and Southern Illinois 200-88.

The women's swimming and diving team won their 15th consecutive dual meet, dating back to February 3, 2001. The team had many top performances led by junior Rebecca Wolfe's first place finish in the 1,000 freestyle. Her time of 10:15.27 is the 3rd fastest time in Missouri history, despite only swimming this event for the third time in her career. Andrea Nigh placed first in both the 50 (23.94) and 100 free (52.17). She is undefeated this season in both events after beating Nebraska and Texas A&M two weeks ago. Sarah Lo also added two first place finishes, she won both the 100 (57.52) and 200 backstroke (2:04.67). Freshman Liz Schoborg won the 100 butterfly with a time of 57.13.

The women's diving team once again showed why they are one of the top teams in the country. The Tigers swept the top four places in the 3-meter board, led by sophomore Anna Massey's score of 247.50. In the 1-meter the Tigers finished second, third and fourth. Amanda Maret was the leading scorer with 246.80 followed by Massey and Joanna Lawrence.

The women's team returns to action this coming weekend at home against conference rival Kansas on Friday, November 1 at 6:00 p.m. at the University Natatorium followed by a dual meet against Truman State on Saturday, November 2 in Kirksville, Mo.
