University of Missouri tennis player Urska Juric lost in the final round in the back draw of the main draw at the Riviera All-American Championships in Los Angeles. Juric lost to Julie Rotondi from Florida 7-5, 7-5. Juric won three rounds in pre-qualifying, three more in qualifying, and three in the main draw to bring her combined singles record to 9-2 against some of the best singles players in the country and a 3-1 record against some of the best doubles players in the country. Missouri tennis coach Blake Starkey said, "I've never seen anything like this, either in terms of win/loss, or sheer physical endurance at this level. They (Juric and Sevcikova) got hot and just tore through the field. I wish all of Columbia could have seen them play. This wasn't about forehands or backhands, it was about heart and fight. I am so proud of what Katka and Urska did here. It was a fun week, and it's great to have kids like this on our team"
The Missouri tennis team will be back in action this Saturday at the Drake Invitational in Des Moines, Iowa. Tiger tennis will be back in town on November 2nd for the Mizzou Pro-Am I at the Green Tennis Center.
