DAY TWO QUOTES

HEPTATHLON
Katherine Livesey - Nebraska
On wanting to improve on her 3rd place finish last year:
"I knew last year looking at my record, I could make improvements in each event, I still has some left over. I knew this was the last chance I was going to have."

On how she approached day two with the lead:
"When I woke up this morning, I knew that the long jump would be a crucial event because of athletes like Barbara (Sezlendakova) who is a 20-foot plus jumper. So I had to get out and compete well. Having the lead and a big cushion like that is good, but I couldn't relax."

On the NCAA Championships:
"It was good to have a confidence boast like this. I know there are a few things that I can polish in the next two weeks, and I am looking forward to it."

DECATHLON
Knut Sommerfeldt - Missouri
On repeating as Big 12 Champion:
"This feels just as good as last year, maybe even a little better. I had to dig deep this time to pull if off."

On his desire to repeat:
"I'm always wanting to improve myself. This season I am far from what I can do, and I am still progressing. I was one place shy of being an All-American last year and this year that is going to be my big goal."

On trailing after day one:
"The thought struck me yesterday, I had a couple of bumps and he was 300 points up on me. So I had to sit down and figure this out. I wanted this bad and I knew I'd have a big second day. If I dig deep to my level in each event, I know I can score high, even if I have a few bumps."

On the NCAA Championships:
"I think I have a really good shot at being an All-American. I don't think I've had the biggest meet of the season yet."

WOMEN'S HAMMER
Melissa Price - Nebraska
On becoming a Big 12 Champion:
"It's wonderful, it's really a great achievement. I'm just really happy to have broken the record.

On her record throw:
"My fourth and fifth attempts, I wasn't thinking that I had a chance. I messed a bit with my technique, but I'm glad I was able to put it together for my last throws."

On her chances at the NCAA Championships:
"I think my chances are good going into it to win. I'm just going to go in and think about throwing far and try not to think too much about the competition. There are a lot of good athletes across the nation, so I know that I will have some good competition."

MEN'S SHOT PUT
Carl Myerscough -- Nebraska
On becoming a Big 12 Champion:
"It means a lot because I had some tough competition today. So I'm really happy with the win."

On if he has a rival with Missouri's Christian Cantwell:
"Yeah, but we're good friends. It's a friendly rivalry but it's certainly there."

On if anyone had an edge coming into the Big 12 Championships:
"Not really. I've had more wins over Christian, but in recent form, Christian has been throwing further. So today, it was 50/50.

On the NCAA Championships:
"I have as good of a chance as anyone. So if I can put it together, I can win. It's not going to be easy, so I'll be as prepared as I can be for it."

Christian Cantwell - Missouri
On his performance:
"I think I threw well. I'm not disappointed in how I did."

On the large crowd:
"They were great. It was what I expected. They helped me out."
