Tigers Open Outdoor Season in Warmer State

Columbia, Mo. -- The Missouri men's and women's track teams open the outdoor season March 14-16 at Texas A&M University, for the College Station Multis and College Station Relays.

The College Station Multis will run on Thursday and Friday. Events for the decathlon start at 10 a.m. both Thursday and Friday. The heptathlon begins March 14 at 1 p.m. and on March 15 at 11:30 a.m.

The College Station Relays are held Saturday only. Field events for the Relays begin with the women's long jump at 11 a.m. Running events begin at noon with the women's 3000m steeplechase.

Indoor season comes to a close

The men's track & field team placed 15th at the NCAA Indoor Championships with 10 points. Junior throwers Christian Cantwell and Russ Bell each earned All-American honors at the meet. Cantwell placed third in the shot put, his highest finish at the Indoor Championships of his career, with a toss of 67-0.5. Bell placed fifth in the weight throw with his personal best mark of 71-3.25. Senior Micah Shanks made his first appearance at the NCAA Indoor Championships and just missed earning All-American honors with his 12th place finish in the weight throw (66-5.25).

Also participating in their first NCAA Championships were juniors Timothy Dunne and Stewart Kimball who both ran in the men's 800m. Dunne placed 12th (1:50.13) and Kimball placed 15th (1:51.86).

Senior Ann Marie Brooks also ran at the NCAA Championships. She placed 15th in the 3000m in a time of 9:40.98.
