The University of Missouri women's tennis team fell to Rice on Thursday 4-3 in Houston, Texas. Rice won the doubles point and the two teams split the six singles matches. Missouri is now 3-3 on the season.
The Tiger doubles tandem of sophomore Urska Juric and freshman Katka Sevcikova moved to 5-0 on the season by defeating Jeri Gonzales and Yasmin Fisher 8-1. Juric and Sevcikova are currently the nineteenth ranked doubles team in the nation.
Juric and Sevcikova each also picked up wins in singles play. Juric defeated Gonzales 6-2, 6-1 and Sevcikova downed Natalie Briaud 6-4, 6-3. The other Tiger to win was junior Kristina Olshanskaya. She defeated Fisher 7-6, 6-0.
Missouri will take on Texas A&M at 1:30 p.m. on Friday in College Station, Texas. The Tigers will then travel to Austin, Texas for a dual with Texas on Saturday. The next home action for MU will be March 8, when Oklahoma State will visit the Green Tennis Center at Mizzou.
