Missouri's J.P. Reese Named Big 12 Wrestler of the Week

Feb. 11, 2002

Missouri sophomore J.P. Reese was named Big 12 Wrestler of the Week Monday for his performances last week. Reese won two matches this past week to improve his record to 16-8 overall and 10-5 in duals.

On Thursday, Reese upset No. 5 ranked Aaron Holker of Iowa State by pinning him in 1:24. He followed that up by knocking off Charles Sageman of Michigan State on Sunday with an 8-4 decision.

Reese is one of the most dangerous pinners in the nation and has a team leading ten pins. He has recorded pins in less than one minute four times this season (0:22, 0:29, 0:31, 0:58) and at one time had pinned five straight opponents.

The Rochester Hills, Mich. native is 2-1 in the Big 12 Conference this year defeating Scott Burnett of Nebraska along with Holker of ISU.

No. 9 Missouri (13-2) will be back in action at 7 p.m. on Wednesday against Central Missouri State University at the Hearnes Center.
