Tigers Have Successful Weekend

Feb. 10, 2002

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Missouri baseball team spent Saturday's practice outside at Taylor Stadium/Simmons Field but moved into the Daniel J. Devine Pavilion for Sunday's activities.

On Saturday, the catching duo of Brent Lacy (Fr., Ellisville, Mo.) and Brian Desch (So., Lenexa, Kan.) had success both at and behind the plate as Desch hit a home run.

With the team moving inside due to the weather, a short practice took place before the intrasquad game. Drew Endicott (Jr., Carthage, Mo.) and Justin James (Fr., Yukon, Okla.) squared off on the pitcher's mound.

Garrett Broshuis (Fr., Advance, Mo.) came into serve as a closer on both Saturday and Sunday and looks to be the favorite for that spot. Felipe Tetelboin stepped up his play, particularly on the offensive end, over the weekend.

"We are definitely ready to play someone else," said MU head coach Tim Jamieson. "Drew threw well again, about as well as he's thrown since he's been here."

Missouri had its annual media day following Sunday's intrasquad game.

The Tigers return to practice on Monday and Tuesday before leaving for Phoenix, Ariz., on Wednesday.
