Rain Can't Stop Tigers' Productivity

Jan. 30, 2002

Rain and cold weather forced the Missouri Tiger baseball team indoors Wednesday, but it didn't stop the team from having a productive workout.

"We had a good, crisp fundamental practice today," assistant coach Chal Fanning said.

Working inside at the Dan Devine Pavilion, the team started its practice with defensive skills and pickoffs. The Tigers also focused on situations with runners on first and third and offensive situations.

A six-inning intrasquad game completed the team's workout. Garrett Bauer and Drew Endicott worked the mound for the Tigers. The game ended in a 1-1 tie.

"We played well tonight," Fanning said. "Our pitchers did a good job of stepping it up, the defense handled the ball really well, the catchers caught well, and we took good swings. We had a really nice game."

The team will practice again tomorrow, probably at Devine Pavilion. Matt Hobbs, Derek Roper and Travis Wendte are scheduled to pitch.
