Columbia, Mo.-Defender Dyana Russell sums up her collegiate soccer career being named Missouri's second All-American athlete in program history. The senior was named to the SoccerBuzz third team.\
In addition to achieving All-America status, Russell received various accolades following the 2001 season including a National Soccer Coaches Association All-Central Region second team nod. The senior was also honored as a 2001 Big 12 all-tournament and all-conference selection earlier this season.
Russell, a two-time co-captain on the Tiger squad, rounded out her career as one the finest defenders to play for the Missouri program. In her final season, she helped the Mizzou defense record an unprecedented perfect game against Indiana State. MU took 34 shots and kept ISU without a single attempt during 90 minutes of play. In addition, Russell scored a goal and dished out two assists in 2001.
Russell looks to advance to the professional level and will compete in the Umbro Selection Tournament, a WUSA recruiting forum, in Florida this spring.
