Clarence Gilbert Named Big 12 Player of the Week

Dallas, Texas - University of Missouri senior guard Clarence Gilbert was named the Big 12 Conference Player of the Week Monday, as announced by the league office.

Gilbert played a key role in the Tigers' two victories last week. The Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., native had a team high 18 points in a 69-67 win at Saint Louis. Gilbert scored eight of MU's final 13 points in the game which included six straight during one stretch.

Gilbert followed that with a season-high 29 points in a 117-67 win versus Southern. Gilbert was 11-for-16 from the field for the game which included 7-for-10 from three-point range. For the week Gilbert averaged 23.5 points. Phillips 66 Big 12 Player of the Week is voted on by a media panel which covers Big 12 men's basketball. He is the second Tiger in three weeks to win the award, as Kareem Rush claimed the first weekly honor on Nov. 27th.
