COLUMBIA, Mo.- Junior Matt Ferrarelli has the second fastest time in the country in the 200 individual medley according to Taper & Shave. Ferrarelli's time of 1:49.31 that he posted at the Pittsburgh Invite is second only to Tamas Kerekjarto of Southern California (1:48.01).
Ferrarelli is ranked among the nation's top 50 in three other events according to Taper & Shave. He ranks fifth overall in the 400 individual medley with a time of 3:53.81. Ferrarelli won the Big 12 Championship last year in the 400 IM. Ferrarelli also is ranked No. 29 in the 100 backstroke (50.66) and 45th in the 200 backstroke (1:50.76).
Junior Radu Miclaus is ranked among the top butterfly swimmers in the country. He is ranked No. 25 in the 100 butterfly with a time of 49.66. Miclaus is also ranked No. 27 in the nation in the 200 butterfly (1:50.00).
Two Tigers are ranked in the top 50 in the 500 freestyle. Junior Dane Pedersen, the Big 12 runner-up in the 1650 freestyle at last year's Big 12 Championships, is ranked No. 42 in the 500 free with a time of 4:34.30. Freshman Josh Boyd is not far behind Pedersen. Boyd is ranked No. 49 with a time of 4:34.77.
Freshman Matt North made the top 50 list at No. 50 in the 200 breaststroke. North's fastest time is 2:05.37.
Four of Missouri's five relay teams are currently ranked among the nation's top 30. The MU 400 medley relay team is ranked No. 23 in the country with a time of 3:23.67. The 800 freestyle relay teams ranks 24th nationally (6:55.70) while the 200 medley relay team is ranked 25th (1:33.16). The Tigers 200 freestyle relay is ranked 26th (1:24.49) and 400 freestyle relay team is at No. 50 (3:08.78).
