
Women's Golf Finishes 8th in Shootout at the Legends

Franklin, Ind. - The University of Missouri women's golf team put together its strongest outing of the 2001 fall season, and finished 8th of 19 teams in the Shootout at the Legends, which wrapped up today with 18 holes of play at The Legends Golf Course, in Franklin, Ind.
Head Coach Stephanie Cooper's Tigers shot a team round of 310 on Tuesday, and ended with a three-round total of 909, which was just four strokes shy of fifth place for the tournament. The 909 was 14 strokes better than the team's previous season best of 923 turned in at Nebraska in September.
Senior Nisha Sadekar (Aurora, Ontario) led the way individually for MU, as she shot a three-round total of 220 to tie for 6th place. Sadekar shot a two-under par 70 in Monday's opening round, and followed with rounds of 74 and 76, to finish just eight shots back of the leaders. Her 70 on Monday, as well as her 220 total, were career bests, and her 6th-place finish equaled a career best.
Junior Elin Ohlsson (Vetlanda, Sweden) notched her third consecutive top-25 fall finish, as she shot rounds of 75, 72 and 75 to tie for 11th place with a total of 222. Ohlsson's even-par 72 on Monday tied a personal best, and her 222 total broke her previous collegiate best by one stroke.
Freshman Maria Ohlsson (Vetlanda, Sweden) shot a career-best 74 in Monday's opening round, and finished at 231 for the tournament, which tied her for 42nd overall.
Other Tiger competitors included freshman Mindy Bullard (Warrensburg, Mo.) and sophomore Tara Jacobsen (Lebanon, Mo.), who tied for 69th place and 86th place, respectively. Bullard established a career best with her three-round total of 238, while Jacobsen made her first appearance of the fall.
The Tigers are off for over two weeks, before the they close the fall campaign at the Alabama Capstone Intercollegiate, to be held Oct. 26-28 in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
