Columbia, Mo. - The University of Missouri men's basketball team welcomed its fans to the Hearnes Center for the first time this pre-season, as they held the first-ever Black and Gold Game following MU's football game with Texas.

The black team, comprised of Kareem Rush, Arthur Johnson, Wesley Stokes, Duane John, Najeeb Echols and Michael Griffin, defeated the gold team, comprised of Clarence Gilbert, Rickey Paulding, Travon Bryant, Josh Kroenke, Jeffrey Ferguson and Ryan Kiernan by a score of 52-27.

A crowd of 6,106 saw the 20-minute scrimmage Saturday, and they saw junior pre-season All-American Kareem Rush pick up right where he left of last season. Rush led all scorers with 19 points (on 9-of-17 FGs), and he added three assists with no turnovers in 20 minutes of play.

Arthur Johnson added 15 points and nine rebounds for the black squad, on 6-of-9 shooting, while Stokes had seven points, four assists and two steals in 20 minutes of play.

The white squad was led statistically by Paulding, who had 13 points and two assists on the night, while Bryant showed his talents by adding 12 points.

Missouri's first pre-season game is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 3rd vs. the EA Sports All-Stars. Tickets are available for the game by calling the MU Ticket Office at 1-800-CAT-PAWS, or online at www.ticketmaster.com.
