Columbia, Mo. - The University of Missouri football game vs. the University of Texas on Oct. 27th will kickoff at 1:00 p.m. (central) at Faurot Field, as announced today by the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.
The delay in announcing the start time came about this week as Missouri examined the possibility of televising the game in a partnership with Fox Sports. Plans were scrapped, however, due to Big 12 Conference policy that prohibited an agreement that MU found suitable.
"Our hopes were to offer this game for free to cable outlets around the state of Missouri," said MU Director of Athletics Mike Alden. "After being approved by the Big 12 office, we began plans to make this happen, but were later informed after the process got started that it would be in conflict with conference policy," he said.
The men's basketball Black & Gold Game, set for that same day, will tipoff approximately one hour following the conclusion of the football game.
Tickets for both events can be purchased at the Hearnes Center Ticket Office, or ordered on the phone at 1-800-CAT-PAWS (884-PAWS locally). Football tickets are $32 apiece, while basketball tickets are priced at $5 apiece. A portion of the proceeds for the Black & Gold Game will go to the Boys and Girls Club of Columbia, as well as disaster relief efforts for recent terrorist attacks on the nation.
