Missouri Women's Basketball Team Opens Practice

Oct. 13, 2001

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The University of Missouri women's basketball team opened the 2001-2002 season with its first practice of the season Saturday. The practice, held at the Brewer Fieldhouse, was part of the third annual Brewer Breakfast.

The Tigers went through various ball-handling, passing, spot shooting and defensive drills.

"It feels good to get it under way," said sophomore Evan Unrau, one of two returnees from last year's starting lineup.

"I thought it went well," said MU head coach Cindy Stein. "I liked the enthusiasm and work ethic shown today. We're all real anxious about getting the season starting and a little nervous, too. I thought we were real sharp for the first two hours and then it slipped a little."

Missouri will take part in the "Tiger Night of Terror" on Oct. 31. There will be trick-or-treating from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Hearnes Center Fieldhouse followed by a scrimmage and costume contest.

The Tigers open the exhibition season on Nov. 2 against Lincoln (Mo.) University. The game will start at 7 p.m.
