Basketball Pre-Season Events Announced

Oct. 10, 2001

The University of Missouri men's and women's basketball teams will both take part in pre-season events in the coming weeks, allowing the public an opportunity to see what coaches Quin Snyder and Cindy Stein will do to follow up their successful 2000-01 seasons.

The first event is set for Sat., Oct. 27th, when the men will hold their first annual Black & Gold Scrimmage, in conjunction with the MU football game that day against Texas. The kickoff time won't be known for the game until Oct. 15th, but plans call for the scrimmage to be held prior to an evening football game and following a morning or afternoon game.

Further details concerning the scrimmage will follow, due to the uncertainty of the timing of the event at this time. It is known that tickets will be available for $5 apiece, with a portion of the proceeds going to charity. All seating being general admission. For ticket information, please contact the MU Ticket Office at 884-PAWS, or 1-800-CAT-PAWS.

The Black & Gold Scrimmage will take the place of Mizzou Madness, which had been held the last three years in conjunction with the first day of practice.

The MU women's team will hold its first public scrimmage four days later, as they take over the spotlight for Tiger Night of Terror, to be held Wed., Oct. 31st. The festivities will begin at 5 p.m. with the traditional safe trick-or-treating environment and games in the Hearnes Fieldhouse. The women's team will then scrimmage in the arena at 7 p.m., to be followed by the annual costume contest at approximately 7:30. Players will be available for pictures and autographs following the event.
