COLUMBIA, Mo. - The University of Missouri track and field team ends its three-meet homestand Friday with the MU-KSU-KU Triangular.
The Missouri women's track team is ranked 22nd in this week's Trackwire national poll. The Tigers received eight votes and are in a four-way tie with Auburn, Arizona State and Northern Arizona. The MU-KSU-KU Triangular is in its 12 year of existence. The Triangular is the only meet in the nation that is scored as one team combined.
The winner of the Triangular meet wins "The Jug", a 10-gallon jug that was originally started by Missouri Head Coach Rick McGuire. The winner of "The Jug" decorates it in the school's colors.
"It was just an old jug that was sitting in the corner of my office. We had it painted by some of our student-athletes and it became the trophy for the winner of the Triangular," McGuire remarked on the Jug.
Kansas State won the Triangular last year and Mizzou last won it in 1998.
