Missouri Chosen Fourth in Big 12 Poll

Columbia, Mo.--The University of Missouri women's soccer team tied with Oklahoma as the fourth-place pick in the 2001 Big 12 Preseason Coaches Poll.

Nebraska was selected to win its third straight and fourth overall Big 12 Conference soccer title. The Huskers were chosen first by nine of the leagues 11 soccer coaches. Texas A&M was the second-place pick and Texas came in third.

The Tigers enter the 2001 season backed with a 10-10 record and a 5-5 mark in conference play last year. Missouri adds nine freshmen to seven sophomores, two juniors and three seniors, including MU's first international player, Tamara Kochen, who played on the Israeli national women's team.

Missouri opens 2001 with a preseason Alumni Game on Sat., Aug 25 at 7:00 p.m. The Tigers begin regular season play the following weekend when they host Memphis on Sat., Aug. 31 at 7:00 p.m.
