Colorado Springs, Colo.- The University of Missouri volleyball team picked up 109 points in the preseason USATODAY/AVCA Division I Coaches Top 25, ranking them 27th in the nation. The poll was released Monday afternoon by the AVCA.
The Tigers were one of five Big 12 schools ranked in the top 30 spots with defending national champion Nebraska claiming the top spot in the land. Texas A&M landed the 18th spot while Kansas State, who was picked to tie with Mizzou for fourth in the Big 12 by the Big 12 coaches in the Big 12 preseason poll, starts the season at No. 19. The Tigers were at No. 27 while Colorado grabbed 108 votes and fell immediately below Mizzou at No. 28.
After receiving their first ranking in the AVCA Poll since 1992 last season, the Tigers reached as high as No. 23 and finished the season receiving 32 votes at No. 28. MU posted the sixth best record in school history in 2000 (24-7) and tied Texas A&M and Kansas State for second in the Big 12.
