Football Sidelines to Switch in the Fall

July 11, 2001

Columbia, Mo. - After five seasons of life on the West sidelines, the Tiger football team will head back to the other side during games this fall. It has been decided that Missouri will go back to the East sideline, with visiting teams setting up camp on the West sideline, also known as the pressbox side of the field.

The move will put the Tiger team back to its old spot in front of the MU student section, and is designed to give the students an opportunity to feel more involved with the team.

Missouri had been on the East side during the days of the old Big Eight Conference, per league policy. Once the Big 12 Conference came around, there was no league policy on sideline occupancy, and MU switched over to the pressbox side, where the team resided from 1996-2000.
