MU's Laskowski Honored

June 5, 2001

COLUMBIA, Mo. -- The University of Missouri's Lee Laskowski (St. Louis) was named on Tuesday to the Louisville Slugger Freshmen All-American Team as selected by Collegiate Baseball newspaper as an honorable mention pick.

Laskowski, who hit .304 with 11 doubles, appeared in 38 games this past season. He had 12 multi-hit games in 2001, including a team-high three four-hit games.

He was named the Phillips 66/Big 12 Player of the Week on March 19 after making his first-ever start against Missouri Valley (3/13). During a five-game stretch, he hit .429 (9x21) with two doubles and two home runs. Laskowski drove in five runs and recorded three games with two-or-more hits.

Laskowski's selection marks the fourth-straight season Missouri has had someone named to the Louisville Slugger Freshmen All-American Team.
