Missouri Announces Non-Conference Women's Basketball Schedule

COLUMBIA, Mo. -- The University of Missouri women's basketball season will open the 2001-2002 non-conference season on November 16 when the Tigers travel to Kansas City and will meet the Kangaroos of Missouri-Kansas City.

The Tigers will face Southwest Missouri State on Nov. 19 in their regular season home opener at 7 p.m. The Bears of SMS and Duke, a possible opponent as Missouri plays in the Duke Tournament, are non-conference foes who advanced to the 2001 NCAA Sweet Sixteen.

MU faces Lincoln (Mo.) in an exhibition game on Nov. 2 and will face a team from Basketball Travelers on Nov. 9 prior to opening the regular season.

Missouri returns three starters from last season's team which went 22-10 and also participated in the 2001 NCAA Sweet Sixteen.

The Big 12 schedule is expected to be released in mid to late July.
