Mizzou Softball Swept by Baylor

April 29, 2001

Waco, Texas--The University of Missouri softball team (27-26, 4-11 Big 12) fell 6-0, to Baylor (38-20) Sunday as the Bears completed the two-game sweep of the Tigers.

The Tigers failed to manufacture any offense again Sunday, as MU had only four hits, two of which was provided by Lindsay Jacoby in the fifth and seventh. Two more were provided by Karen Williams and Erin Erickson in the sixth inning, but Mizzou failed to score any runs before the inning ended.

The Bears banged seven hits off senior pitcher Stephanie Falk, before she was relieved by Ingrid Werner in the bottom of the fifth. Werner fared little better, allowing five hits in three innings of work.

In conference play, the two losses by Missouri over the weekend have secured the fact that they will have to win a play-in game in the first round of the Big 12 Tournament in order to advance to the double-elimination rounds. The top six teams in the tournament are ensured two games.

The Tigers return home for a doubleheader Tues., May 1, against UMKC Kangaroos, with the first pitch set for 3 p.m.
