Columbia, Mo. - In a defensive battle Saturday, the Tiger softball team (25-23) could not muster any offense, falling to Texas Tech (28-18) 1-0.

In the top of the second inning, the Red Raiders scored the game's only run. Third baseman Andrea Joachims singled to right field, then advanced to second on a Tiger fielding error. She reached third on a passed ball, and would score on a wild pitch.

The Tigers' only hit came from sophomore Sara Vassmer, who hit a ground ball single to third base.

Defensively, both teams were very strong, although each team recorded an error. Pitching for the Tigers, senior Stephanie Falk struck out five and allowed only three hits in 25 batters faced.
