Springfield, Mo. - The University of Missouri men's golf team finished in 8th place at the Branson Creek Invitational, which was held at Branson Creek in a weather-shortened event. The tournament was scheduled for 36 holes of play Saturday, followed by 18 more on Sunday, but the final 18 holes were cancelled due to severe weather which moved through the area early Sunday morning, causing damage to the course and facilities.

The Tiger men shot team rounds of 290 and 291 on Saturday for a team score of 581, which left them in 8th place in the 10-team event, two shots out of 6th place. The event serves as the final regular-season tournament prior to the 2001 Big 12 Championships, which are scheduled for April 23-24 at Prairie Dunes Golf and Country Club in Hutchinson, Kan.

Junior Mark McBride led the way for Missouri individually, as he tied for 18th place with a two-round total of 143. McBride shot rounds of 70 (a spring season low) and 73 for his total, which was just one-over par on the par-71 layout. McBride has now recorded top-25 finishes in three of four tournament format outings this spring.

A pair of Tigers were four shots back of McBride in a tie for 30th place. Freshman Michael Radek and junior Chris Happ shot identical totals of 147 on Saturday to tie for 30th. Radek shot rounds of 73 (a spring low) and 74, while Happ recorded rounds of 76 and 71 ( a spring low).

Freshman Brandon Knaub was one shot back in a tie for 35th, after rounds of 75 and 73 (a spring low) left him with a two-round total of 148. Junior Neal Stafford was next for MU, with a two-round total of 150, shooting rounds of 72 (a spring low) and 78. Sophomore Shawn Fleming competed as an individual, and finished in 53rd place with a 154 total after rounds of 79 and 75.
