O'FALLON, Mo. - Tuesday's collegiate baseball game between the University of Missouri and Saint Louis University at T.R. Hughes Ballpark was rained out in the fifth inning. The game featured both teams using wood bats, courtesy of Rawlings Sporting Goods.
Tornado sirens went off with the Tigers at bat in the fifth. Hail and heavy rains forced the game to be cancelled. Since the contest was not an official game, no statistics will be kept from the contest.
The teams will attempt to reschedule the contest, perhaps again using wood bats. The game is believed to be the lone regular season contest in 2001 to use wood bats.
Missouri plays at Texas 6:30 p.m. Friday in game one of a three-game Big 12 Conference series.
