Softball Hosts Missouri Round Robin This Weekend

March 8, 2001

Columbia, Mo. -

The University of Missouri softball team (7-13) comes home to host the Missouri Round Robin with Iowa State, Indiana State, and Tennessee-Martin Friday, Saturday and Sunday, March 9-11.

Iowa State comes to Columbia sporting a 3-7 record, including wins over New Mexico, Sacramento State, and Texas A&M.

Indiana State is currently 3-8, with wins over Tennessee State and Austin Peay State (2).

The University of Tennessee-Martin Skyhawks are 1-15.

Mizzou Thus Far...

Mizzou will look to improve on a 7-13 record after four tournament weekends. However, 10 of the team's 13 losses have come to opponents ranked in the Top 25.

After three road trips in four weeks, the Tigers will enjoy a 16 game home stand. The Tigers will take to the road again on March 27 to take on Oklahoma in Norman as the first game of their spring trip.

Mizzou Series History vs. Weekend Opponents

If history is any indication of what is to come this weekend, Mizzou has a good chance of winning its second home tournament. The Tigers are 30-23 against Iowa State and 11-3 against Indiana State. The Tigers have never faced Tennessee-Martin.

Missouri Round Robin Tournament Notes

The tournament is scheduled to be held at University Field. Game times each day will be at 10 a.m., 12 p.m., 2 p.m., and 4 p.m. Mizzou will play at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Friday and Sunday, and will play at noon and 2 p.m. on Saturday. Should inclement weather move the tournament indoors, the games will be played at Devine Pavilion. If indoors, the last two games of Friday's schedule will be played at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. due to spring football practice.

Miller Achieves a Milestone

Head Coach Jay Miller earned his 500th Missouri win earlier this season, and was fortunate enough to win it on his home turf. On the 18th of February, Coach Miller led the Tigers to a 3-1 victory over Western Illinois.
