SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The University of Missouri softball team improved to 20-17 overall as it defeated Texas-San Antonio 7-3 and 12-4 in a Thursday twin bill.
Missouri 7, UT-San Antonio 3 - game one
Missouri wondered how its day might go as the Roadrunners' leadoff hitter, Ashley Oswald, homered over center field to start the game. UTSA would score one more run in the bottom of the first inning with a double to center.
The Tigers couldn't do anything in the second frame and the Roadrunners added another run via a home run by first baseman Brooke Polansky. However, that was the end of the scoring for UTSA while the Tigers were just getting started.
Sara Vassmer reached on an error in the third inning. She advanced to second base on a wild pitch before stealing third base. She scored on a throwing error to put the Tigers on the scoreboard. Junior Erin Erickson added a three-run home run with two outs to give MU a 4-3 lead.
In the fifth, Karen Williams and Rachael McGinnis each singled before pulling off a double steal. Williams scored on a single by Melanie Fisher before an Erickson single scored McGinnis.
Fisher drove in Williams in the seventh inning to close the scoring. Stephanie Falk pitched her 19th complete game.

After the Roadrunners scored four runs in the bottom of the third inning, Erickson homered in the fourth inning. McGinnis would later add a home run of her own in the inning.
The Tigers plated another run with two outs in the fifth inning before Lindsey Jacoby hit a two-run homer to center.
Missouri scored two runs in the seventh inning on an RBI single by Fisher. Fisher would later score on a wild pitch.
